Thesis Title: Dead, Imprisoned, Relapsed: The Fate of Homeless Substance Abusers Two Decades Later
About
Rachel L. Rayburn is an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at Indiana University Purdue University - Fort Wayne. In 2012, she published "Death, Drugs, and Disaster: Mortality Among New Orleans' Homeless." Her other publications appear in Deviant Behavior, The Journal of Applied Social Sciences and Society. She holds a B.S. degree from Florida State University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The University of Central Florida. Dr. Rayburn teaches courses in criminal justice and public policy. Her current research examines desistance among homeless substance abusers. She is currently working with Indiana Campus Compact on a project titled, "Listening to Communities" which focuses on how higher education can fulfill its goal of engaging IPFW students with the community of Fort Wayne to address problems of homelessness.
